PUBLIC NOTICE PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that in accordance with Section 202-b of the Town Law of the State of New York, a further public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town oflshp on NOVEMBER 19,2002, at 2:30 p.m. at the Islip Town Board Room, Islip Town Hall, 655 Main Street, Islip, New York, for the purpose of considering improvements to the Fair Harbor Water District, located in the Hamlet of Fair Harbor, on Fire Island, in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, New York, the boundaries of which is comprised of the properties designated on the Suffolk County Tax Map as District 0500, Section 492, Blocks 1 through 5 inclusive; Section 493, Blocks 1 through 5 inclusive and Section 494, Blocks 1 and 2 inclusive. A map and plan of the proposed improvements, together with an estimate of costs has been prepared by a New York State licensed engineer of the Suffolk County Water Authority. The proposed improvements are described as follows: The replacement of all the asbestos cement piping within the Fair Harbor Water District with American Water Chloride (PVC) water distribution piping which will range in size from four (4) inches to twelve (12) inches. All fittings will be of a compact ductile iron type. All existing fire hydrants will be evaluated and if acceptable, will be tied over to the new water mains. If unacceptable, they will be replaced and then connected to the new mains. The currently existing four (4)- foot wide wooden walks will be replaced with five and one-half (5 Vi)-foot wide walks. All work will be performed by the Water Authority pursuant to contract with the District after a public bidding and award of a contract to the lowest responsible bidder or bidders. The estimated cost of the proposed improvements is $3,838,917.60, of which the estimated sum of $3,564,504.30 shall be a charge against the District and assessed, levied and collected in the same manner as other charges against the District (which cost includes the replacement in kind of the four (4)- foot wood walks) and the additional cost associated with the one and one-half (l'/2)- foot widening of the walks, together with SCWA administration fees, in the estimated sum of $217,413.30, shall be a townwide charge.
