11/25 We are sad to announce the passing away of Saul Shine, a long time resident of Fair Harbor. He is survived by his wife, Marge. A memorial service is planned for 3:30 pm on Sunday at Riverside Chapel.

Visit her website to order Partition Lot 6 - Fair Harbor, a documentary of the first seventy-five years of Fair Harbor as a community. 4/16 Tax Crunch-Time. Another weekend with lot's of rain and sun-shine on Sunday afternoon. Walking through the community reveals the extent to which homes were sold and bought this last winter. Many, many houses are being worked on and updated. Welcome to all those industrious new home-owners!
4/11 A weekend for all seasons. Wind on Saturday and 60F. Sunday sported wind and 50F. We walked around looking at all the new houses that went up this last winter in Fair Harbor and Saltaire. And, of course greeted old friends.

3/12 Elly Maggiora, a longtime Fair Harbor resident, always giving of her time to friends, children, cats, deer and everything living, died on February 24, 2000. She was a supremely talented woman whose sense of style and taste was unsurpassed. We will miss her! Many of Elly’s friends want to show their regard for her in a way that would reflect Elly’s own special interests and loves. Among the many things Elly treasured were cats & Fire Island. Please give to the Elly Maggiora Fund. Read at this link about the goals of the fund.

3/11 Last year Susan Chadburn completed the video on Fair Harbor's history "Partition Lot 6 - Fair Harbor" and used the photo in the video. Her mother, Mae Chadburn, lived in Fair Harbor since 1923. She said this view shows Broadway in 1931. All but 8 houses were destroyed in the hurricane of 38, that's why these houses may look different from the ones that are there now. The Chadburns' house was the big one on the right. Thanks Susan for the insight.
