The following regulations apply to the New York Marine District.
The New York State Regulations Hotline (1-800-REGS-DEC) notes that during the open season (May 8 - December 15), fisherman can take one bass with a size limit of 28 inches.

    * There is now ten blackfish per angler per day limit on blackfish from October 7 to May 31, and a reduction in the possession limit to one blackfish per day from June 1 to October 6. All blackfish must be a minimum of 14 inches in length.

    ** Marine waters -- South of George Washington Bridge. Charterboats with appropriate license allowed 2-fish at a minimum of 28" per person. Hudson River season begins March 17, and a one fish at an 18-inch minimum per day limit applies.

    ++ Lobsters and crabs in spawn (eggs visible thereon) may not be taken or possessed.
