Elly Maggiora Fund
Up One Level Elly Maggiora Fund Highlights 1999 Highlights 1998 Nick & Lynn

The Elly Maggiora Fund

Elly Maggiora, a longtime Fair Harbor resident, always giving of her time to friends, children, cats, deer and everything living, died on February 24, 2000. She was a supremely talented woman whose sense of style and taste was unsurpassed.
We will miss her!

Many of Elly’s friends want to show their regard for her in a way that would reflect Elly’s own special interests and loves. Among the many things Elly treasured were cats & Fire Island. In particular, strays that lost their way on FI either through abandonment or as a consequence of being offspring of wildcats. She spent many an hour rounding up these strays and carting them off to Dr. Dratch at the Bay Shore Animal Hospital to have them neutered and tested for feline leukemia. The Elly Maggiora Fund will pay for neutering, testing for feline leukemia and, when necessary, euthanasia of stray Fire Island cats when they are brought to the Bay Shore Animal Hospital.

Any contribution should be in check form, made out to The Elly Maggiora Fund and sent to:

Elly Maggiora Fund
c/o Dr. Steven Dratch
Bay Shore Animal Hospital
202 East Main Street
Bay Shore, NY 11706

Contributions will be deposited in a special account set up for this purpose. The contributors will receive an appropriate acknowledgment and Nevio Maggiora will also be notified of the contribution. On a biannual basis, Dr. Steven Dratch, Nevio Maggiora, Jean Ann Ufer and Jack Gellatly will meet to review the previous six-month activity. If there is a need for more frequent meetings, they will take place. From time to time it may be appropriate to remind Fire Islanders of the fund and the services provided by it. If so, the Fire Island News will publish gratis reminder notices. When the fund is exhausted, a meeting will be held to determine whether it makes sense to revitalize it.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Jack Gellatly @ 631.583.7449 or gellatlz@ix.netcom.com
