4/22/01 ..... and fast forward two years and Voila!!! Your tax-dollars at work!

But wait!? Did it have to be orange???

But never mind that. Thanks to the relentless effort of the Fire Commissioners, who leased the property to the Town of Islip for $1 the building is finally up. Special thanks to Neil Rudikoff for helping so strongly to putting this together.

The Town of Islip promised that this property will be beautifully landscaped, I heard the term "Park Like" and none of our tax dollars will be spared to achieve this.

Landmarked? Anybody wants to restore this structure? ...and preserve a piece of Fair Harbor History!

7/10/99 Life Guards are on Duty! Thank you to all who contributed and helped expedite this very important issue. It seems that the town of Islip has installed a temporary toilet on Central and Elm until a permanent structure can be built this summer. This property belongs to the Fair Harbor Fire District and the use of that property required delicate negotiations between the District and the Town of Islip. Gene Levy, President of the FHCA said: "We really appreciate the cooperation of the Fair Harbor Fire District".

Whether this issue is closed or not remains to be seen. We need to stay vigilant until the permanent solution is built and funded.

Recently evidence is mounting that the Town of Islip is trying to reduce it's involvement with the beach communities. We as tax-paying residents cannot allow this and need to remind the Town that we are part of the municipality. We play an important role in protecting the mainland from flooding, provide recreation, and a substantial amount of direct and indirect tax-revenue.

The most pressing issue at this time is the Life Guard issue. Without your help we may not have life guards in time for the season

Your community needs your help by voicing your concerns by calling the Supervisors office, sending letters, and voting. Make your opinions and concerns heard! Thank you, Bob Jaffee for your effort! Click here to see Bob's letter.

If you have already composed a letter on this or other subjects, the FHCA would appreciate if you could e-mail it for inclusion in these pages.
