Complaint about a construction business

Lifeguards:
Eugene Levy, President of the FHCA reports that the lifeguard/toilet issue seems the be solved thanks to an agreement between the Town of Islip and the Fair Harbor Fire Commissioners. Construction of the permanent building at Central and Elm can possibly start this winter with the interim solution in the meantime satisfying the Suffolk County Health Department. Maintenance will be performed by the Lifeguard District.

Medical District:
Not run by the FHCA. Mr. Brozan has been ill this summer. Mr. Levy offers to help out with some of the issues that may arise. Defibrillators are still planned as well as an electric medical cart. Attendees voiced concern and dissatisfaction with the attitude of some doctors in what the community perceives to be emergency situations ( broken ankle in the surf, and lacerated shin at the bay beach). Mr. Levy will speak to Tony about this matter.

FHCA Directory:
Please submit ads, additions and corrections to any member of the board. Alternatively please e-mail them to . Long term renters are very welcome.

Dock District:
Will replace the temporary snow-fencing with permanent rails. A bait station and improved mooring is also planned.
The wagon-platform on the western side is in need of replacement. A discussion ensued as to how extensive that replacement should be. Some members felt that we should take care to not to overlook the aesthetics and beauty of the bayfront.
A wagon park cleanup is planned for this fall. Please watch out for the date (tba) to remove your wagon.

The Rockettes:
15 of the more senior members including Corliss will give a benefit presentation at the old Fire House on Saturday 8/21/99 at 8:30pm. Admission $ 5.-- goes to the FHCA.

FI Interim Project:
The FIA has lobbied for many years very hard to drive this project further. The draft was published recently for public comment. The comment period ends end of September.

Ferries:
The ferry company agreed to instruct it's captains to go slow when transiting to and from Dunewood. Some members had noticed erosion due to the large wakes.

Beach Monitoring:
Erica Feder reports that last fall monitoring indicated that our beach was in good shape and in line with expectations. This spring and summer has not been good to the beach sofar. Another layer of snow fencing was added recently.
Scraping the beach is being discussed. Advantage: Houses look better. Disadvantage: Expensive. Saltaire scrapes every year. Kismet every other year. Once scraping has started, monthly monitoring is required adding to the cost.

Pine Walk Fair
Helen Kornblau presented a check to the FHCA from the Pine Walk Fair.

Complaint about a construction business:
A member complained that a neighboring construction business on Central creates too much noise at all times of the day including at night when large garbage trucks remove waste.
