Ideas and Information for people who want to experience the rewards of volunteering and help make their community a better place to live. Despite our fast-paced lives, many people, young and old, find time to help people, causes or communities in need. Why are people interested in volunteering?

  • To make a difference

  • Feel good about themselves

  • Have fun working and being with people

  • Develop new skills

  • Expand your horizons

Whatever reason for volunteering, it's easy to get hooked. Volunteering can become a lifelong satisfying commitment

What's right for you? Before choosing an activity, consider the following:

  • What community problems concern me?

  • Does volunteering for a group fit my own interests

  • How much time can I commit?

  • What talents or skills do I offer?

  • What do I want to get out of my involvement?

  • Will I enjoy this type of service?

Our Community provides several organizations to get involved with. There is the Fair Harbor Community Association, The Volunteer Fire Department, The Pine Walk Fair plus others in government like: Medical District, Life Guard District, Dune District, Dock District and others. These Districts are town organizations with taxing power. It is always beneficial to have these run by local people with our unique local needs in mind.
