4/5/2003 Fire Island Emergency Drill

This excercise was scheduled to include and test inter-agency communication and coordination, including numerous adult and children victims (actors). The assumption was that an explosion "downtown" Fair Harbor caused numerous severe injuries and fire. Specifically the excercise was to test communication between several emergency responders, like the Fire Island emergency agencies (Fire and EMS), Fire Island National Seashore, Coast Guard, the Emergency Control Center in Yaphank and others. Unfortunately, inclement weather caused the children actors to stay home and therefore a major portion of the exercise could not be realized.
