Fire Island's world famous beaches invite vacationers year after year to
the sun soaked ocean beaches, luxuriating in the gentle waves of the
Atlantic Ocean. Fire Island is nestled between the wide expanses of
the Atlantic Ocean providing cooling ocean breezes during the summer and
the gentle and serene Great South Bay only about one hour from New York
City. There are no paved roads leading to most of Fire Island, and during
the summer season, no motor vehicles are permitted. This secludedness adds
to the special ambiance and flair beckoning you to explore the miles and
miles of beaches and natural beauty of this special Island.
As many as there are communities (17 in
all) there different styles, flavors, and attitudes. Over the years every
community has carved out it's own niche. From exclusive, to commercial, to
busy, to outrageous. From family to singles/group oriented and any shade
in between. With a little research you will find your "perfect" community
to participate in.
