to finally have ended. But all along adventurous renter have been making
the trek to Fire Island to find the perfect summer home.
05/18/06 A thank you to
Suffolk County Vector Control which applied a granulized larvicide to
properties in Fair Harbor with standing water today. The application is
the result of samples taken from standing water containing live mosquito
larvae.

Dr. Qualliotine was active for a long period of time in the Fair Harbor
medical district, and had a house in Lonelyville.
3/30/05 The snow is now long history and in fact the
first signs of spring are appearing namely the Krokus are flowering and
the Daffodils are following not far behind.

After a snowy 2003/2004 Winter this weekend turned out to be a "10" with
wonderful pre-seasonal temperatures and a huge beach after the restoration
project late last year. Welcome back from all of us here at Fair Harbor.

Fire Island, like so often, confused the weatherman again. The
Easter-Weekend had rain in the forecast, but it turned out to be
absolutely glorious.
4/5 Volunteer Fire Fighters from most Fire Island Fire Departments, EMS,
and FINS staged an exercise in Fair Harbor simulating multiple severe
injuries.

new position in Arizona. We wish Costa the best of luck in his new

7/11 Rolling Blackouts: LIPA has installed emergency generators in lot 4
and indicates no more rolling blackouts should be expected.
7/10 Just learned that Brett's "Desert under the Stars" was so successful
that the FD decided to do another one in August. Keep watching for the

by FINS under a
procedure
called:
Negotiated Rule Making. Please read
FINS news release. Ask
yourself the questions: why are only mostly "Special Interest Groups"
represented and not the majority of the homeowners / tax payers of Fire
Island. Why is the Town of Islip not participating? Driving effects us
all!
7/8 Fire Island experiences rolling power outs. Two out of the three
underwater feeder cables are out. Repairs are expected to last up to 10
days.

5/21 Congratulations to Michael Livingston (2nd Place) and to Taryn Phelan
(3rd Place), for winning in the Fire Island National Seashore essay
writing contest on the topic of "living with white-tailed deer as
neighbors". Both are students of the Woodhull School on Fire Island.
"Congratulations to all students, teachers, and parents who participated
in the contest," added Costa Dillon in a FINS news release.
