| Residents of Fair Harbor/Dunewood Water District:
Your home has been connected to the water supply through the new
polyethylene water main that was installed on the ground. The water has
been tested and found to meet all health standards. It can be used for any
and all purposes.
The temporary water system is smaller than the existing distribution
system. You will, at times of high demand, experience some loss of
pressure. Remember, the ”on-the-ground” system was installed so you would
have a safe water supply for your home and is only going to be used this
summer. If the pressure problems are severe, please let us know and we
will make adjustments in the operation to help alleviate them. Since there
has been asbestos in the water system, you should thoroughly flush out the
water piping in your home.
The Water Authority recommends you do at least the following:
- Remove and clean any screens on your faucets and the connection to
the appliances.
- Remove and clean the shower head.
- Run the water for a few minutes through all faucets and hose bibs.
- Drain and flush out your hot water heater.
If you should have any questions during normal business hours, you can
call 631-563-0203. Other than our normal business hours, please contact
our emergency number at 631-665-0663.
Again, we thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Very truly yours,
Herman J. Miller,
P.E. Deputy CEO for Operations
