Robert Moses State Park links Fire Island on the western end via Captree Island to Jones Beach Island and Long Island. Five large parking lots (no overnight) provide parking for the gorgeous beaches. There are life guards, picnic areas, bath houses, and concessions. The western most end is called Democrat Point consisting of large ever shifting sand areas and sand bars. The eastern most end of Robert Moses State Park is bordered by the Fire Island National Seashore (a national park) beginning with the Fire Island Lighthouse and continuing with the various communities. All communities are located in the national park.
